PLATFORM
The Village Council is a nonpartisan body, and I believe it is important they govern as one; that is, evaluating issues on facts and merits and making rational decisions based on the needs of our residents and businesses, not on politics. We need people willing to respectfully collaborate to continue the Village's successes while continuously striving to improve the community.
My involvement in VoDG business started during a recent Andy's Frozen Custard petittion in 2024. I got involved with my neighbors and was able to affect positive changes in the plans to reduce traffic and improve safety on our residential streets. I ennjoyed being part of the process and making a positive change for our community, and I look forward to creating more positive change as a commissioner.
LIST OF ISSUES
Balanced Budget
We need to maintain a balanced budget, ensuring that we grow village revenue so that tax increases are not necessary. As a commissioner, I would prioritize maintaining our budget and bond rating to ensure our real estate and insurance bills do not increase because of Village shortfalls.
Senior Social Services
We need to improve our process of connecting the village's senior residents with the services that are already available to them, guiding them to the robust resources available within our village, townships, and county.
Safety
It is important to consider the safety of our streets and sidewalks when planning village development. One way we can achieve this is by codifying zoning code restrictions that prevent drive thrus on residential streets. I intend to advocate for codifying these restrictions to prevent developments that access residential neighborhoods.
Affordable Senior Housing
I will pursue the development of affordable senior housing in an effort to promote a safe place in our village for those who may be struggling with the rising cost of living.
Art
I believe public art is an asset to a community. I will advocate for the inclusion of art in our downtown as well as incorporating and promoting art within Guiding DG and village's comprehensive plan.
